Our Story:
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) has been dedicated to caring for the Broome community for over 40 years. Established in 1978 as the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia, BRAMS provides comprehensive, culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support to local Aboriginal people. With a team of experienced health professionals, including Aboriginal Health Workers, GPs, Nurses, Psychologists, and more, BRAMS is committed to improving health outcomes in our community through collaborative efforts. 
Due to growth within BRAMS, we now have an opportunity for a Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) Case Worker to join our Broome Head Office full-time.
How You’ll Make a Difference:
As our FDV Case Worker, you will be providing case management and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Women and Children who have experienced domestic and family violence. You will work within the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team alongside Social Workers and Case Workers who will support and collaborate with you.
You will need to provide culturally appropriate and safe case management for these women and children long-term, who will be referred to you by our Intake and Assessment Team.
You will be:
  • Completing risk assessments and creating safety action plans for women and children;
  • Use a person-centred approach to set achievable goals with the people you are working with;
  • Providing information and resources to women and children as needed;
  • Use a variety of theoretical frameworks to provide effective case management; 
  • Collaborate with effectively your team and the wider business;
  • Protect client confidentiality at all times and maintain documents safely; and 
  • Work with the team to provide reports and suggestions for continuous improvement to this service.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:
As our FDV Case Worker, you will have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and the unique influences and impacts that factor into domestic and family violence in these communities.
You will have experience in case work within the community services sector, or a strong passion and lived experience. Being flexible and able to deal with changes will be a strength of yours, given the nature of the role.
While you will empathise with your clients, you will also be able to maintain professional boundaries and be able to communicate well with people of all backgrounds, both as clients and as internal and external stakeholders.
You will have:
  • Experience in casework
  • Understanding of unique factors influencing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Communities
  • Understanding of the Family and Domestic Violence Sector
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure
