Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a passionate Lecturer (Level B) for the First Peoples Health Unit that will utilise their real-world clinical experience to heavily contribute to inspiring our next generation of Healthcare Professionals. This role will continue to enhance the teaching, research, and engagement that Griffith University currently offers across an array of Health group professions.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Contribute to the teaching efforts of the First Peoples Health Unit
  • Develop curriculum of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content to be utilised across the Health Group
  • Carry out research both independently and as part of a team
  • Supervise passionate postgraduate research students dedicated to improving First Peoples Health
  • Make a positive contribution within your community through advocacy initiatives

To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people: 

  1. of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and 
  2. who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; and 
  3. who are accepted by their community as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

This is a full time, fixed term position for 3 years (with possibility to extend) based at the Griffith University Gold Coast or Logan campuses. It is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role. Access to a Griffith vehicle to travel between campuses is provided.

Salary Range
The base salary for Lecturer (Level B) is in the range $105,144 - $124,862 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package is in the range $123,018 - $146,088 per annum.

Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to educating and building First Peoples health initiative. You will also have, but not limited to:

  • A doctoral or masters qualification of equivalent accreditation and standing, or commencement towards a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or field.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in contributing to teaching at the tertiary education level (clinical experience highly regarded).
  • The ability to conduct and publish quality research, with evidence of high-quality papers and national and international impact.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to the positive culture and aspirations of the Unit, Health group and University.
