About the Role
This is a compelling opportunity for a dynamic Academic Programs Officer to join the esteemed Melbourne Dental School. As a crucial member of the Academic Programs Team, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential administrative support to both academic staff and students. Working under the guidance of the Academic Programs Manager, you will contribute to the seamless administration of degree programs, manage timetables, and foster relationships with key stakeholders. This role not only offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in the academic community but also provides a unique and enriching experience for professional growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • First point of contact for all student and curriculum delivery enquiries.  
  • Provide timely and accurate advice and guidance to academics and students to ensure we meet University policy and compliance.  
  • Provide administrative support for a range of student and teaching related activities including scheduling interviews for student selection, admissions and orientation (in a clinical environment) as well as provide meeting support for board of examiner meetings and other critical student lifecycle events. 

Who We Are Looking For
You are an organised and proactive individual, adept at managing multiple tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines. Your excellent communication skills and commitment to customer service make you a valuable team member, capable of thriving independently and collaboratively.

You will also have:

  • A completed degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative role that required coordination of a range of complex functions in alignment to detailed policies and procedures
  • Highly developed computer literacy, including advanced use of MS Office suite, particularly Word and excel, and experience with other applications such as Qualtrics and Zoom

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The Melbourne Dental School has a strong tradition in dental research and an established international reputation in several research areas. Research in the School is an integral component of staff and student activities underpinning both the undergraduate and graduate curricula. The major research activities of the school are conducted via three divisions and four major research groups, which range translational biomedical science to clinical studies, pedagogical research. The Head of School joined the University of Melbourne in 2020 and is leading a program of change within the School focusing on strategic reviews of education, research and organisational structure, known as MDS’25.
