Job Description:

The Opportunity:

In the role of Regional Officer (APS 4) within the Southern region or Northern region, you will have responsibility for providing assistance to members and directors of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act).

 

As a Regional Officer, you will manage complaints and disputes, and undertake activities such as registrations, reporting and call centre operations.

 

You will be required to engage in processing activities that support Indigenous Corporations registered under the CATSI Act to remain compliant with the requirements of the Act. This applies to existing corporations and those wishing to register.

 

Other requirements of the role may include:

 

•            being part of a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards

•            contributing to governance procedures, practices and frameworks

•            recommending opportunities that contribute to continuous business improvements for ORIC

•            support ORIC services in the regions to be in line with ORICs business objectives in order to maximise their impact and effectiveness

•            support in the delivery of corporate governance training in the region, in particular Corporation Specific training (CST) and assisting at corporation meetings.

 

Having experience and/or qualifications in accounting, legal practice and business administration or Certificate IV in training and Assessment would be advantageous.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is expected to have:

 

•            call centre operations experience or be able to quickly acquire the skills

•            the ability to provide timely and quality responses to enquiries in writing and verbally

•            proficiency in using and adhering to business systems and processes

•            experience in, or be able to quickly acquire the skills, to interpret the CATSI Act to ensure corporations are complying with the legislations, policy, and regulatory frameworks

•            be able to provide advice to Indigenous Corporations regarding matters under the Act in a culturally appropriate way (refer to Identified Positions below)

•            need to identify opportunities to build corporation capability with skills and processes for maximising positive outcomes and improved practices in the sector.

 

Key to your success will be your ability to work collaboratively, forming positive relationships with key stakeholders, communities and corporations to identify the needs and strategies for improving the governance, compliance and sustainability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations in the region.
