Your new company is a public services organisation based in the New England region of NSW, looking for an experienced WHS Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract with a view to extend.
Your new role
This position is accountable for:
Provide support and advice to employees in accordance with the organisations' Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures, legislation, regulations and codes of practice as appropriate;
Assist in maintaining the Work Health & Safety Management System, providing assistance to Workers in its implementation;
Present WHS orientation to all Workers, contractors and others as required;
Assist in the delivery of Safety initiatives, programs & activities;
Assist in the development & review Risk Assessments & Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS);
Assist with safety consultation processes & in the development & review of Safety Procedures processes;
Monitor contractor, volunteer & employee safety practices;
Support incident investigations and make recommendations in relation to corrective and preventative action that will mitigate future events.
Support hazard identification and risk management activities, including but not limited to workplace inspections and audits, to identify hazards and evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of risk control measure
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will ideally:
- Hold a Cert IV in WHS
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
