This is a full-time contract opportunity until March 2026 located in Liverpool. Starting base annual salary of $91,297 to $96,882 negotiable based on experience, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options.

About the opportunity:
Make a real impact by supporting families, children and young people who are at risk of escalation within the child protection system. As the Therapeutic Caseworker you will work alongside our clinical team and coordinators of the program to identify the therapeutic needs of the families, children and young people. The Therapeutic Caseworker will take a lead case management approach to the families and are responsible for liaising with external services and stakeholders that make up the support network of the young people and their families.
The Youth Hope program provides proactive therapeutic casework with a strong focus on recovery from trauma and ultimately achieving positive outcomes for the family and an increase in safety and wellbeing.
- Provide therapeutic casework services based on the philosophy and principles of the neuro sequential model of therapeutics and the NATI approach to case management.
- Work closely with the clinical team and the Youth Hope Coordinator to identify the therapeutic needs of the families, children and young people and structure the support intervention accordingly.
- Actively engage young people and their families to build rapport with them in a way that is embedded withing a trauma informed approach.
- Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people in families and immediately take appropriate action in line with Uniting policies, procedures and the mandatory reporting guidelines where the safety of the child or young person is at risk.
- Assess families’ casework and intervention needs holistically and assist them to formulate goals that address their needs. Provide families with tailored support to achieve goals.
- Support children and young people to maintain communication and relationships with their family that promote their overall wellbeing.
- Be available to provide services to families, children and young people at times and in locations that are most suitable to their needs.
Your Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree is Social Sciences, Psychology or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering therapeutic casework
- Experience working with families, children and young people
- Demonstrated experience in engaging and working with Aboriginal and CALD families, children and young people in a culturally responsive and appropriate manner
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Current NSW driver’s licence and current NSW WWCC
