About the Role
Auckland City has been dubbed the weediest city on earth. Pest plants are invading our urban bush areas and disrupting their ecology. Your mission should you choose to accept it – eradicate the weeds.
You will work alongside another team member based out of a ute controlling legally declared plant pests within Auckland’s Regional Pest Management Plan (RPMP) on public reserve bush edges. You will use a variety of tools (from secateurs to chainsaws) and agrichemicals to control and eradicate the weeds/pest plants.
This critical work forms part of our full facility contract requirements with Auckland Council. Project work including planting will also be undertaken from time to time.
Teams will be mobile and work all over the North Shore.
About You
- Be very safety conscious.
- Be able to work collaboratively with others, using your communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be physically fit and able – this can be hard work at times.
- Have a great work ethic. Turn up each day and put in a fair day’s work.
- Be willing to learn
- Hold a Growsafe Certificate (Nice to have, but not essential)
- Have relevant qualification (preferred, but not essential)
- Have previous experience in a similar role
