ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support our Facilities Maintenance team in Auckland. In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with our SHEQ Manager, operational teams, and key stakeholders to promote a safe and compliant work environment across the contract.
You’ll be instrumental in improving and maintaining our health and safety systems, helping to foster a positive safety culture, and ensuring our teams, clients, and contractors are protected and supported.
This position primarily covers the North Shore and Central Auckland, with occasional travel to Wellington and Christchurch.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with managers and team leaders to embed safety practices and enhance our safety management system.
- Provide expert SHEQ advice across the contract, supporting compliance with H&S legislation and internal policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental and safety strategies aligned with SHEQ goals.
- Maintain and manage risk registers to ensure all risks are effectively identified, assessed, and mitigated.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and deliver effective training and communication of SHEQ content.
- Support incident investigations and ensure incident reporting meets legislative and contractual standards.
- Manage the approved contractors list and build relationships to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist with internal and external SHEQ reporting and other tasks as required by the SHEQ Manager.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone with a practical, solutions-focused mindset and strong influencing skills. You’ll be confident working with teams across all levels and passionate about driving a culture of safety.
Key requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-risk industry (e.g. Facilities Maintenance, Construction, Mining, Manufacturing, Logistics).
- Solid understanding of NZ health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Full Class 1 NZ driver’s licence.
- Attention to detail and a high standard of professionalism.
