Are you a hands on and practical problem solver with an interest in working in the water industry? This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Sydney Water, operating and maintaining our water resource recovery assets in a truly diverse and interesting role. No two days are the same!
What will you be doing?
As a Production Officer, you’ll play a key role in the safe operation and maintenance of water resource recovery assets, ensuring protection of the environment, compliance to Environmental Protection Licences and exceeding customer expectations.
You will be reporting directly to the Production Manager, Illawarra Hub, where you'll contribute to the delivery of high-quality water resource recovery services to local communities. You will based be in the Illawarra Hub, working initially at Shellharbour but also across other sites in the Hub which are located from Bellambi to Bombo.
You will:
- Operate the plants in all conditions, in alignment with Water Resource Recovery and Sydney Water frameworks including health and safety requirements, quality and information management protocols, incident response and business continuity frameworks
- Undertaking daily plant performance monitoring and adjust process control parameters
- Contributing to the prioritisation of maintenance and renewals to inform weekly scheduling, monthly forecasting and medium to long term planning.
- Executing on-site process and asset checks using available systems, processes and procedures
- Work in a supportive team environment and promote and contribute to continual improvement
Who are we looking for?
- You will have a passion for safety and enjoy working in a diverse environment; bringing your own strengths to the team
- Trade qualifications (electrician / instrumentation specialist or mechanical) or qualifications in engineering / science or equivalent experience
- Current driver’s license and your own vehicle with flexibility to travel across various locations within your hub
- Experience in production or manufacturing within Water / Wastewater industry is highly advantageous
- Computer skills, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfortable learning customised software packages. Experience using automated control systems is highly advantageous
