An exciting opportunity awaits to lead our City Gardens team within Horticultural Services!
In this role, you'll oversee some of the city's most iconic green spaces—including Cook Park, the Civic Centre Gardens, and vibrant CBD locations such as roundabouts and feature beds. Join our City Presentation branch and take pride in shaping the beauty and appeal of our public spaces.
Jobs/Responsibilities
You will be responsible for planning, supervising and coordinating safe work activities and programs for the City Gardens area including:
- Lead, inspire, and mentor a dedicated team of staff, apprentices, and contractors
- Apply expert knowledge of plant identification and best horticultural practices to promote vibrant, healthy landscapes across diverse environments.
- Strategically develop and oversee work schedules that prioritize workplace health and safety while maximising team productivity and results.
- Drive the planning, coordination, and execution of both routine maintenance and special improvement projects with precision and innovation.
- Lead and manage capital works projects that improve the city’s green spaces and benefit the community.
- Engage proactively with community members to address concerns and foster positive relationships around city garden maintenance.
- Stay ahead of industry standards by researching and interpreting Commonwealth, State, and Local legislation to ensure full compliance.

Skills/Experience
To be successful in this position you will need:
- Diploma in Amenity/Urban Horticulture or similar
- Demonstrated leadership / supervisory skills and excellent verbal communication skills, as well as experience in a similar role coordinating and planning programs
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence or ability to obtain
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory criminal history check
- A NSW General Construction Induction Card
- A ChemCert AQF3 Chemical Accreditation or ability to obtain
- RMS Traffic Controller qualifications TCR & TMP & PWZ or ability to obtain
