The opportunity
We are seeking applications for a Technical Officer to assist in providing technical and professional expertise for the development and maintenance of Council’s assets and Civil Engineering projects including water and sewerage projects. A key aspect of the role is the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, requiring analytical thinking and solution-oriented approaches.
In this role you will:
- Carry out field survey work for project investigation and design, engineering and construction surveys.
- Set out of project construction works
- Assist in the delivery of the design program.
- Assist in developing projects, including scope, design, estimates and specifications.
- Carry out Council’s program of traffic count information-gathering and analysis.
- Prepare concept plans and provide input to Council’s Traffic Committee as required.
- Carry out technical investigations and respond to requests as required.
Criteria
- Previous experience in the civil construction or related industries.
- Demonstrated understanding of Local Government infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience in land and construction surveying
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing civil projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of civil construction plans and specifications.
- Demonstrate ability to use persuasive skills order to resolve problems, explain policy and reconcile viewpoints.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1476.70 per week with progression up to $1630.00 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
