Tree and Vegetation Maintenance Worker (Ref: 1256)
About the position:
The Tree and Vegetation Maintenance Worker undertakes operational activities associated with the provision of tree and vegetation pruning and maintenance services to the City of Greater Geraldton, working under direction to ensure all work is carried out within agreed programs and budget constraints and in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards.
This position works a 9-day fortnight, with every second Friday as a non-working day.
Key accountabilities:
- To carry out general tree maintenance and pruning, and/or labour duties for the City’s parks infrastructure and facilities.
- General operation of plant and hand tools, carry out maintenance and/or labour duties as required.
- Operate plant and specialised tree pruning equipment in a competent and safe manner including loader and other machinery as required.
- Ensure that regular routine daily maintenance is carried out and that relevant log books and pre-start are completed.
- Report any damage or faults in relation to the plant and machinery, and any public complaints to the Supervisor as soon as possible.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will ideally have relevant industry qualification or have proven experience in vegetation maintenance, including pruning, control techniques, and associated procedures. A current MR Class driver’s licence is also required.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $76,072 per annum or $38.49 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
