Narromine Shire Council covers an area of 5264 km2 and has a population of approximately 6444 in the rural townships of Narromine, Trangie & Tomingley and the surrounding rural areas. Narromine is located 40km from the regional city of Dubbo.

About the position
Narromine Shire Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant for our WHS & Risk Coordinators position. The primary purpose of this position is as below:
- To coordinate the ongoing development of Council’s Safety Management System enabling the joint development of safe working practices and the continuous development of a safety-first culture.
- To provide advice and coaching to Council’s Management and staff on all WHS and Risk related matters including Legislative requirements.
- To ensure the effective investigation of incidents and identify hazards in order to minimise the impact of injury to employees and act as advisor to Council’s WHS and Risk Management Committees.
- To ensure that Council has in place effective policies and procedures for the management of risk and implement strategies to ensure annual Statecover WHS Audit results are improving beyond the state average.
To be successful in this position you will need to have:
Essential
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of WHS Legislation Regulations and related management systems and programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of WHS on an organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in accident investigation.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of risk management principles.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence.
- General OHS Construction induction certification (white card)
Desirable
- Diploma in WHS
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- 2 years experience in a similar role
- Experience working in Local Government.
- OHS consultation committee training
The details relating to this position are:
- The position is graded 12 within Council's salary structure
- The salary range is from $79,457 - $89,897 per annum plus superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment.
- 35 hour working week applies. NSC has a flexitime system whereby you may work 37.50 hours per week to bank 2.5 hours per week to be used at a later date.
- Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award
