The Role
We are seeking a dynamic National Operations Manager to lead our Woolworths operations nationally. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive operational excellence by developing high-performing teams, ensuring KPIs are met, and fostering strong customer relationships built on collaboration and trust.
You will play a key part in shaping business-specific initiatives, managing budgets and forecasts, and implementing strategies that deliver sustainable growth. Safety and compliance will be at the heart of everything you do, ensuring all company, customer, and legislative requirements are met.
Reporting directly to the Retail & Transport Senior Vice President, this role leads three direct reports overseeing the Sydney Basin/Warnervale Woolworths contract and the VIC MLDC contract, with the position based in New South Wales

As the National Operations Manager – Grocery NSW, you will:
- Accountability & Compliance - Oversee all roles within the operation, ensuring business continuity when needed, and uphold obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law to prevent breaches of transport regulations.
- Safety & Risk Management - Act promptly on any safety or environmental threats, enforce site safety requirements, and ensure compliance with pre-operational checklists, damage reporting, and SOPs.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement - Build strong relationships with Woolworths’ transport team, act as the escalation point for operational issues, and ensure the highest level of service to all stakeholders.
- Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement - Maintain 99.5%+ On-Time Delivery, manage daily operations within contractual parameters, monitor KPIs and budgets, and drive initiatives for process improvement and technology adoption.
- Leadership & Team Development - Coach, mentor, and performance manage teams, foster collaboration, manage HR/IR issues, and ensure succession planning for future growth.
- Cost & Resource Management - Continuously review labor requirements, optimize allocations and dispatch for cost efficiency, and monitor subcontractor earnings to maintain profitability.

- Tertiary qualification in Logistics Management or Business or related discipline
- Driver’s License (car)
Skills & Experience
- Transport & Supply Chain Expertise - Full understanding of transport processes, expectations, and supply chain management principles.
- Financial & Commercial Acumen - Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, costing, tendering, cost analysis, and ability to interpret profit and loss statements.
- Customer & Service Orientation - Demonstrated customer focus (internal & external) and strong service-related skills, aligned with both Toll Group and customer standards.
- Operational Performance Management - Familiarity with KPIs and ability to use them effectively to monitor, manage, and improve transport operations.
- Strategic Planning & Execution - Ability to develop, implement, and manage site-based business plans that align with organizational goals.
- Commercial Opportunity Identification - Capability to identify and capitalize on opportunities that create competitive advantage and drive business growth.
