Council's Digital, Technology and Innovation Branch are on the look out for a superstar Infrastructure Specialist to join the team. Reporting to the Team Leader IT Infrastructure and Operations you will work alongside a team of technical experts with a primary focus on providing a senior level of virtual server, core networking and cloud infrastructure support to the Council. You will also be charged with leading the design, testing, and implementation of ICT infrastructure in virtualised and cloud computing environments per industry standards compatibility, security and sustainability.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related discipline; and/or extensive relevant industry experience
- Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Meraki, or Cybersecurity (e.g. CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in identifying, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities, including development of effective remediation strategies
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex network, server and application environments, including maintenance, fault diagnosis, and resolution across TCP/IP, LAN, and WAN routing and switching protocols
- Sound technical knowledge of enterprise data storage, backup, and recovery systems, including configuration and deployment of server and storage hardware/firmware and associated monitoring tools
- Proficiency across core infrastructure technologies, including Cisco/Meraki, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), Active Directory, security tools (email security, endpoint protection), and mobility management
- Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 environments, including configuration, administration, and management across all modules and Azure services (e.g. Networks, Data Services, and Resources)
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team delivering secure, enterprise-grade network and infrastructure services
- Strong understanding of IT service management principles, with experience in technical operations and service delivery aligned to frameworks such as ITIL
- Exceptional customer service and vendor management skills, with a focus on responsiveness, communication, and partnership
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated capacity to assess change, drive process improvement, and implement effective solutions
Desirable:
- Experience within government environments, preferably in Local or State Government ICT operations
- Experience working within project teams utilizing Agile/SCRUM and Waterfall methodologies
- Hands-on experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, NetBox etc
- Understanding of modern security models, including Zero Trust architecture principles and implementation approaches
- Experience working in cloud computing and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments, including infrastructure migration or modernisation projects
- Awareness of regulatory and compliance frameworks, such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), the Australian Cyber Security Centre's Essential 8, and the Privacy Act
