As
Active Communities Team Leader in
Yirrkala, you will support the delivery of engaging, community-led programs that strengthen wellbeing, culture, and connection within the community. This
part‑time (50 hours fortnightly) role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and contributing to vibrant community life. Join a team committed to positive change across East Arnhem Land.
What you'll do - Assist the Yirrkala and Gunyangara ACYS team to facilitate varied activities that support participants' connection to body, mind, kinship, and culture.
- Supervise ACYS activities after‑school, during school holidays and at night, including a minimum of three nights per week.
- Complete daily reporting and contribute to key data collection.
- Support the delivery of key community events.
- Mentor and support Indigenous identified Active Communities Workers using a strengths‑based approach.
- Clean and maintain facilities and assets, and report any damage or faults.
- Actively participate in all training and development opportunities.
What we're looking for - Experience in youth work, community development, sport and recreation, events management, or related fields.
- Knowledge of and commitment to apply a strength based and community development approach.
- Adaptability and resilience, with the ability to work and thrive in complex cross‑cultural environments.
- Strong cross‑cultural awareness and respect for First Nations people and their histories.
- Effective communication, punctuality, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and school holiday periods.
- First Aid/CPR, Food Safety, Criminal History Check and Ochre Card — or willingness to obtain.
What You'll Receive - Salary is paid pro rata at $34.15 per hour
- 6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata) with 17.5% leave loading
- Annual pay increases under the Enterprise Agreement
