About the role:
An exciting new role has arisen for an experienced Operations Compliance Officer to join Council on a temporary full-time basis for up to 12 months.
We are offering an opportunity to take part in the transformation of our refreshed organisation, which is focused on growing, adapting and improving as we strive towards a culture of excellence.
The Operations Compliance Officer will play a key role in ensuring our Waste Services team works safely, follows the right procedures, and meets all relevant legal and Council requirements.
This is a collaborative role in that you will be working alongside operational staff, supervisors and the Work Health and Safety team.
You will review work processes, safety documents, and risk assessments to ensure they are up to date and practical for day-to-day operations. You will regularly visit work sites to carry out inspections and audits, and observe work activities to check that staff and contractors are following approved procedures and safety controls. When issues, risks, or opportunities are identified, you will provide clear feedback and recommendations to help improve safety, efficiency, and consistency across the team.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or related field), or significant hands-on industry experience.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Work Health and Safety legislation and standards.
- Experience undertaking inspections and audit.
- Strong verbal and written communication, including report writing skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently.
- Computer literacy.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
Desirable Criteria
- Understanding of Heavy Vehicle National Law and CoR requirements.
