The Opportunity
As a Sustainability Officer in the City of Perth, you will play a key role in delivering the City's Sustainability Strategy 2022–2032 by driving sustainability initiatives, projects and programs across the organisation. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help embed sustainability considerations into business processes, decision-making and service delivery while supporting the City's environmental, social and economic sustainability outcomes.
Reporting to the Sustainability Lead within our Sustainability team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
- Researching, developing and implementing sustainability initiatives, projects and improvement opportunities across the organisation;
- Preparing business cases, project proposals and reports to support sustainability outcomes and strategic objectives;
- Focus on the City’s Sustainability awareness building programs across internal and external stakeholders;
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability awareness and engagement; and
- Managing sustainability projects, including planning, procurement, implementation and evaluation.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Experience delivering sustainability projects and initiatives from planning through to implementation and review;
- Strong project management, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Experience in customer and community engagement roles preferably in a government organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively; and
- A tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, architecture, project management or a related discipline.
