We are currently recruiting for the role of FIrst Nations Workforce Coordinator, this is an Indigenous Identified role and is only open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander.
 
About the Company
We are recruiting on behalf of The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), they are one of Australia's leading public hospitals, renowned for its comprehensive range of healthcare services. Established in 1848, RMH is located in Parkville, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria.
The First Nations Health Unit focuses on providing culturally appropriate healthcare services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This unit aims to improve health outcomes and access to healthcare for First Nations communities by offering tailored programs and support.
 
About the Role
The First Nations Workforce Coordinator is a key role responsible for the recruitment, development, and coordination of the First Nations Workforce. This role involves collaborating closely with the Director of Aboriginal Health, as well as units and departments across the organisation to grow and develop the First Nations Workforce.
This role will lead the recruitment, selection and orientation for First Nations staff and work closely with hiring managers to identify workforce priorities. The coordinator will also develop new initiatives and training pathways to enhance the First Nations workforce capabilities.
 
Your duties will include:
  • Develop and implement new initiatives and training pathways for the First Nations Workforce.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers on the recruitment, selection, and orientation of First Nations staff.
  • Support stakeholders with to develop the First Nations workforce in line with the organisational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with hiring managers to identify workforce priorities.
  • Support the Director Aboriginal Health and hiring managers to develop and maintain information and documentation systems to monitor the effectiveness of the First Nations workforce.
  • Produce timely real time workforce data and reporting for the Director Aboriginal Health and other key stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Commitment to the RMH values - putting people first, leading with kindness and achieving excellence together.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in, and commitment to the provision of First Nations Health workforce in a mainstream health, primary care, or welfare sector.
  • An understanding of state and local First Nations Workforce challenges and initiatives.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong links across the health and community sector.
  • Computer skills and experience in Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of Rostering Software/Systems (preferably RosterON).
  • Microsoft Office Suite intermediate skills.
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and prioritise competing demands.
  • Qualification in social work, Aboriginal health, nursing, allied health, community development or similar.
 
Desirable:
  • Experience in recruitment and selection and staff development.
  • Previous involvement in Quality Improvement projects.
