The Role

As a Technical Expert, you’ll play a critical role in supporting Telstra’s Network Facilities and Field Services operations across Taiwan. Reporting to the Senior Lead for Field Services (Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan), you’ll be the go-to specialist for ensuring the seamless operation of our transmission infrastructure including our world-class submarine cable networks.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving Telstra’s technical processes and procedures. Your scope will include everything from feasibility assessments and provisioning to troubleshooting, purchasing, operations, and vendor management. You’ll also lead process improvement initiatives, manage cost forecasting and spend controls, and coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, local carriers, suppliers, and vendors.

With a sharp eye for operational excellence, you’ll collaborate with diverse teams to ensure that Telstra’s infrastructure remains resilient, reliable, and future-ready.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose and restore assurance issues to ensure that networks, infrastructure, products and services work efficiently and reliably
Perform or participate in repair of submarine, transmission network technologies and cabling restore and maintain quality of service to customers
Complete transmission fault investigations and Network Interference investigations to provide an assessment and identification of a range of technical problems, root cause investigations and associated remediation activities
Undertake and project manage planned activities associated with infrastructure maintenance & upgrades, installation projects and customer network projects and drive delivery within given timelines
Actively share knowledge and experience to help others learn, deliver and improve processes and ways of working.
Support development and delivery of technical training to improve stakeholder understanding of technology, products, process and procedures
Liaise with internal and external parties including government related parties.
Base in Taipei, Taiwan

Essential Experience

Proven experience in telecommunications and network transmission, with a strong understanding of infrastructure operations
Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting and testing transmission equipment, including platforms such as Ciena and Infinera
Practical knowledge of submarine cable systems, POP site operations, and on-site network provisioning and repairs
Good communication in speaking and writing in Mandarin Chinese and English.
