Our Federal Government Client is seeking an experienced Service Reliability Engineer. This role is pivotal in ensuring our clients services are reliable and efficient, directly contributing to our clients mission of building a world-leading operation.
It is a multifaceted role that combines technical expertise, analytically skills, and operational support to enhance the reliability and performance of services within our clients department.
This is a 18 months contacting role with a 1x18 months extension option. It is open to ACT & WA. This role is open to Australian Citizens with the ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Overseeing Reliability Issues: Monitor and address reliability concerns impacting ICT applications and services, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Enhancing ICT Monitoring: Develop and refine ICT monitoring systems, including the integration of security event monitoring, to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Automating Alert Escalations: Create and maintain automated alert escalation processes to ensure timely responses to incidents and minimize downtime.
- Automating Incident Remediations: Develop and implement automated solutions for incident remediation, reducing manual intervention and improving response times.
- Collaborating with Technical Support: Work directly with technical support teams to resolve reliability issues, ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Monitoring Services and Responding to Alerts: Continuously monitor services and promptly respond to alerts, mitigating potential impacts on service availability.
- Maintaining Situational Awareness of Cyber Trends: Stay informed about emerging cyber threats and trends, adapting monitoring and response strategies accordingly to safeguard ICT systems.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Monitoring & Observability Tools: Proficient in configuring and utilizing monitoring platforms like Dynatrace and Splunk. Dynatrace offers full-stack observability with AI-driven root cause analysis, while Splunk excels in log management and data analysis, enabling comprehensive oversight of system performance and application health.
- Scripting Languages: Experienced in scripting languages such as SPL, SQL, Python, and DQL. SPL, a JVM-based programming language, is designed for structured data computation and serves as both a data analysis tool and an embedded computing engine, offering flexibility and efficiency in data processing tasks.
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. Both platforms provide a core set of AI, compute, storage, database, and networking services, allowing for the building of highly available solutions on Windows or Linux hosts.
- Security Best Practices: Knowledgeable in security best practices and compliance standards, particularly within the context of federal government operations. This includes familiarity with frameworks such as Zero Trust Architecture and adherence to guidelines set by agencies like the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
- Network Monitoring Deployments: Experienced in monitoring network deployments, including platforms like Fortinet. FortiMonitor, Fortinet's Digital Experience Monitoring platform, provides end-to-end visibility into user experiences, helping to optimize performance and enhance visibility across hybrid environments.
- Professional Experience: Possess over 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a large-scale environment. This experience has honed skills in managing complex systems and ensuring the reliability and scalability of services.
- Effective Communication skills; both written and oral
Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, Github Actions.
- Ability to identify problems, performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Able to work in a fast-paced collaborative team and other technical support areas.
