Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioral programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialized support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven After Hours Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to provide after hours family violence crisis response, outreach and other support to victim survivors in crisis accommodation, refugees or in the community.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent part-time role, located in Coburg North, Victoria.
You will successfully
- Provide case management and crisis support to victim survivors in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice, upholding principles of The National Family Violence Model of Care.
- Receive, triage and prioritise after-hours referrals from crisis services, police, hospitals, and other specialist services.
- Offer face-to-face support, material aid, and emotional assistance, and facilitate placements in emergency accommodation when needed.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and discuss risk management strategies with victim survivor(s) which includes a detailed safety plan based on the client’s situation.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies, maintain accurate client records, and monitor and review individual case plans for progress and outcomes.
- Be available on-call over the 24-hour period, including weekends and public holidays, and during after-hours shifts (from the end of the workday until 9 a.m. the following day) as per the roster, to respond to support requests.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including the Long-Term Refuge team, external agencies, maintain accurate client records, and monitor and review individual case plans for progress and outcomes.
You will have
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, this is essential.
- Experience working in the family violence sector, this is desirable.
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work, this will be considered highly desirable
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
- Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
- A willingness to obtain a national police record check

Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 5.
