About the role:
We’re offering paid traineeships that run for two years, fully supervised, and lead to achievement of a nationally recognised Certificate III or IV qualification—plus the possibility of ongoing work with Council when you complete.
Traineeships will commence from September 2025 until the beginning of 2026, depending on candidate availability.

Available Traineeships:
Building Maintenance Assistant
Join our hands-on, hard-working property maintenance crew and learn how to:
- Check buildings and equipment for faults and preventive repairs
- Help with inspections and building reports
- Do regular fix-it jobs like painting, plumbing, and carpentry
- Build and repair items around Council facilities
- Keep yourself and others healthy and safe at work
ICT Officer
With support from our in-house ICT Specialist you’ll gain experience in:
- Helping staff with computer issues
- Solving hardware, software, and network problems
- Setting up and looking after PCs, printers, and mobile gear
- Running tech setups for meetings and events
- Learning the basics of cybersecurity
Urban Maintenance Worker
Love the outdoors? Work alongside our friendly parks and open spaces team and learn how to:
- Look after local parks, gardens, sporting ovals, and town spaces —planting, watering, mowing, trimming
- Use and maintain power tools
- Help with concrete work, general clean-ups, and maintenance jobs
- Test water in the town supply, bore baths, and pools
- Keep yourself and others healthy and safe at work
