Join Toll Group’s Government & Defence Division as a National Safety Systems and Quality Manager. Are you ready to take the lead in shaping safety and quality excellence across a high-impact, nationally and internationally focused division? Toll Group’s Government & Defence (G&D) team is seeking a dynamic and detail-driven National Safety Systems and Quality Managerto champion the proactive implementation and continuous improvement of ISO-certified management systems.
In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure our systems not only meet regulatory and industry standards but also align with Toll’s strategic vision and values.
You’ll be instrumental in delivering the HSSEQ strategy across G&D, providing expert systems support that drives best practice and embeds a culture of continuous improvement. With a hands-on approach, you’ll oversee the coordination and administration of the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring it evolves with current and future certification requirements. Through coaching and collaboration, you’ll empower leaders and teams to implement and verify management systems and work procedures effectively. Your leadership will ensure that operational sites are audit-ready, compliant, and consistently meeting performance targets—making a real impact on the safety and quality landscape of Toll’s Government & Defence operations.
The responsibilities of the role include:
- Ensure Government & Defence maintains all current and future ISO certifications by managing compliance with international and industry standards.
Coordinate with accreditation agencies to schedule, staff, and cost external audits, while overseeing internal audit outcomes and tracking corrective actions.
Manage audit results by identifying opportunities for improvement, resolving non-conformances, and maintaining accurate data and action logs.
Oversee the integrity and accuracy of systems data across company databases, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure effective data management.
Establish and maintain robust document control processes and ensure policies and procedures are current, communicated, and embedded in daily operations.
Promote seamless integration of management systems into operational practices, fostering a proactive approach to risk management and compliance.
Collaborate with G&D and Toll Group teams to develop risk profiles, support risk assessments, and maintain comprehensive risk registers.
Drive risk governance and business continuity planning by engaging teams, reporting risk activities to leadership, and aligning with Toll’s standards.
In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:
Knowledge/Experience
Strong project planning, time, communication and people leadership skills at all levels of business & knowledge in WHS, ISO Standards (QMS, EMS, OHS) Management Systems.
Knowledge of WHS legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to client requirements.
Skills in monitoring, reviewing, investigative review techniques, reporting, and continuous improvement on performance and compliance.
Demonstrated experience applying agile methodologies and data analysis techniques in an audit environment will be advantageous.

Qualifications
ISO:9001 Lead Auditor Certified or equivalent (required).
Risk management, risk assessment qualifications (required).
Expertise in ISO:9001 Quality Management systems (preferred).
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desired).
Expertise in ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (desired).
Expertise in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems (desired).
Expertise in ISO 44001:2017 Collaborative Business Relationship Management System (desired).
