We are seeking an experienced and professional Events Officer with a passion for community.
This position has primary responsibility for delivery of Civic Events, including citizenship ceremonies and key milestone events such as ANZAC Day. The position also works to contribute to and deliver a range of community-based events across year and support the development of a successful event program.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:
- Planning, coordination and delivery an annual calendar of Civic Events, including the Australia Day Awards, ANZAC Day, Official Openings and landmark occasion events (such as naming ceremonies) within the Shire.
- Planning, coordination and delivery of the Shire's regular Citizenship Ceremonies, including event logistics, liaison with Department of Home Affairs and other stakeholders/organising bodies.
- Undertaking of all tasks relevant to the delivery of Civic Events in the Shire, including but not limited to procurement, promotions, invitation and RSVP processes, and all relevant event approval requirements.
- Coordination of online communication and promotion activities for Civic Events.
- Support the coordination and delivery of the Shire's annual community events program in conjunction with the Community Development team.
- Evaluation of events and reporting of the information to appropriate organisations and officers for continual improvement practices.
We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:
- Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills, including competence in computer and database use.
- Experience in programming and delivery of community and/or civic events.
- Sound interpersonal, public relations and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise and sustain relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level organisation and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and remain calm under pressure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grant funding, including sourcing, developing applications and acquittals.
- Ability to work irregular hours, which would include regular evening functions and occasional weekends.
