Salary from : $103,378 per annum plus superannuation
(Salary will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)

Are you a proud Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person? Wollongong City Council is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as  Aboriginal Cultural Inclusion Officers. We have two roles available that are central to our commitment to cultural inclusion, community empowerment, and respectful collaboration with Aboriginal communities.
About the position
As an Aboriginal Cultural Inclusion Officer, you will work closely with communities to enhance capacity, wellbeing, and cultural recognition. You will contribute to shaping inclusive policies, programs, and events that reflect and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.
About you
You will bring experience and/or skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Building strong relationships with communities to understand their needs, aspirations, and challenges
- Offer advice on cultural protocols and practices
- Creating and running initiatives that support and strengthen community
- Planning and delivering culturally significant events
- Working with teams across Council to embed Aboriginal perspectives into strategies, policies, and programs
- Reviewing and assessing the impact of programs and initiatives

This is an identified role under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act (NSW) 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.
Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the Anti-discrimination Act (NSW) 1977 for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community
