This role involves operating and maintaining civil plant and equipment safely and efficiently, in line with Council procedures and traffic laws. It requires the ability to work independently, knowledge of the Tweed Shire road network and flexibility to perform non-driving duties when needed
About the role:
- Operate and maintain civil plant and equipment safely and efficiently in line with Council procedures and relevant traffic laws.
- May be required to operate additional plant or machinery to meet operational needs.
- Work independently and navigate to various sites, preferably with sound knowledge of the Tweed Shire road network.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and collaborate with other work crews as directed.
- Perform non-driving duties when plant is idle or under repair.

We are seeking:
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills to read instructions, manuals and complete work records accurately.
- Proven competency in operating a range of civil plant and machinery, including excavators, backhoes, graders and loaders.
- Sound understanding of plant operation standards, including grades, levels, cross falls and the ability to operate plant to conform to design levels and standard specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain equipment, follow cleaning procedures and keep accurate records such as safety checks and timesheets.
- Effective communication skills, team-oriented mindset and possession of a valid White Card (General Construction Induction).

This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
