Water Treatment Engineer
Temporary Full-time until July 2026 (Leave Relief)
Hours; 35 hours a week + VDO off every 19 days
Attractive and Competitive Salary: $103,974.52 - $ 120,835.78 + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance (CLA) + 12% Superannuation p.a

As the Water Treatment Engineer, you will report to the Coordinator Treatment and will be responsible for managing Council’s Water and Sewer Trade Waste and Backflow Prevention functions to ensure compliance with legislation and internal policies. The role ensures potable water is treated in line with WSC DWMS, ADWG, and NSW Health standards, while overseeing staff training, budget management, and reporting to regulatory bodies. You will also conduct WHS audits, capture operational data, manage project delivery, and lead the water treatment team through regular operational meetings to maintain performance and compliance.

What you need to succeed
- Degree Qualification in Engineering or Science field, NSW Health Fluoridation Certification for Public Water Supplies and 5 years minimum experience in Water Treatment or related field.
- Proven ability in the development, monitoring and management of financial budgets and reporting.
- Management and development of staff to meet competency levels for compliance with best practice and regulatory requirements
- Well-developed analytical skills with high level written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications with extensive experience in the use of SCADA and Telemetry Systems, and operating devices effectively, embracing digital solutions for works activities to enable field productivity and scheduling based systems to facilitate day- to-day operations.
- Ability to network clearly and effectively with key stakeholders in offering specialised technical advice and support to deliver treatment services.
- Demonstrated ability in leading teams, providing effective communication, driving performance and fostering a positive working culture.
- Hold a C Class Drivers Licence and WHS Induction Card.
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
