Are you a creative communicator with a passion for community engagement? As the Communications Officer (Mayor’s Office), you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality communications that promote Council’s projects, activities and programs through the Mayor’s platform.
Working closely with the Communications and Strategy Lead (Mayor’s Office), you’ll prepare impactful briefing materials, craft engaging social media content, support strategic media engagement, and manage reputation-sensitive issues. You’ll also provide on-the-ground support at events and public activities, helping to amplify the Mayor’s voice and connect with the community.
This role offers variety, visibility, and the chance to make a real impact – and may require some flexibility to attend specific Council events as part of your support for the Mayor.

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
You’re a skilled communicator with a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field, and hands-on experience in delivering diverse communication activities. Your writing and visual communication skills are sharp, and you’re confident creating content across traditional and digital platforms.
You thrive in collaborative environments and know how to build strong relationships with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. You’re organised, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working in complex or political settings is a plus, and you’re ready to bring your initiative and creativity to a role that’s both strategic and community-focused.
