This role sits within our Compliance and Emergency Liaison team and is responsible for the enforcement of laws within the jurisdictional area of the City. In this role you will be responsible for conducting inspections and leading thorough investigations into suspected breaches of the law relevant to building and development compliance legislation and a variety of local laws. You will also prepare legal actions for the enforcement of applicable laws and assist with the mentoring and support of Compliance Officers.
In order to be successful, you will have a passion for compliance and highly developed negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills. You must possess substantial relevant practical experience in conducting compliance and enforcement investigations and have substantial knowledge and the ability to apply and interpret building and development legislation, policy, schemes and approvals. You will also have substantial experience in a customer service role and it is desirable that you have knowledge of court procedures.
To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:
- Ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant building and development legislation including the Building Act 2011, Building Code of Australia, Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995, City Town Planning Scheme, Litter Act 1979, Local Government Act 1995, Planning and Development Act 2005, Residential Design Code and other City policies and approval processes, schemes and local laws.
- Practical experience in compliance / enforcement in Local Government or State Government or other relevant area.
- Sound analytical and decision making skills.
- Sound negotiation and interpersonal skills.
We are offering a salary package of up to $102,835 per annum depending on skills and experience and:
- 12% superannuation plus the option to co-contribute up to a further 5% superannuation resulting in a total of 22%
