About the position:
The City has exciting opportunities for motivated individuals to join our Ranger team as a Casual Ranger.
Casual Rangers assist the Ranger Services Team to meet ongoing operational demands by covering roster gaps, including weekends and public holidays.
These positions will work closely with the public to enforce and promote awareness and knowledge of local laws, parking, fire prevention, animal management and relevant legislation to ensure a safe and secure City of Greater Geraldton community.
Key accountabilities:
- Effectively apply and administer the City’s responsibilities in relation to animal management, local laws, parking, camping grounds, caravan parks, off-road vehicles and litter, as per the relevant legislation, Council and community expectations.
- Provide effective customer engagement and build relationships with customers to ensure a consistent and responsive customer experience.
- Proactively enhance the knowledge of customers in relation to the services provided by the Ranger Services Team and provide customers with the skills and abilities to find critical information in order for them to self-serve if they so choose.
- Respond to general enquiries and complaints (personal, written or telephone) relating to area of expertise and ensure reviews of infringements are handled in a timely manner.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will possess relevant qualifications and experience suited to ranger services. Sound written, verbal and interpersonal skills for negotiation and communication with customers and the public are essential.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
Casual Rangers are remunerated at a rate of $48.1226 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
