ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Environment and Planning Systems team sits within Council’s Environment and Planning Directorate and focuses on public space planning and design, environment and resource recovery, and planning systems within the Cumberland LGA, along with supporting Council’s strategic objectives by enhancing the life and vitality of the communities who call Cumberland home.
We currently have a great opportunity for a Graduate Landscape Architect to join our Public Spaces Design team. You will have the opportunity to work in all aspects of Landscape Architecture assisting with designing sustainable, fit for purpose open space and facilities. Reporting to the Principal Landscape Architect the role will provide open space design and landscape architectural services to enhance Council’s active and passive open spaces. You will obtain on the job learning experience, mentoring and work with a range of industry professionals and stakeholders to deliver projects for the community.
The successful applicant will require:
- Degree or diploma qualified in landscape architecture or equivalent and/or relevant industry experience in an allied field
- Ability to prepare landscape plans and detailed drawings
- Demonstrated skills in preparing landscape design documentation using design applications, ideally AutoCAD/Vectorworks and Adobe CC
- Ability to assist in the preparation of reports and provide technical landscape and urban design advice in response to organisational needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Current Class C drivers licence

About this role:
- Term contract full-time position for a period of up to three (3) years
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
- Located at Council's Auburn office, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 8 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,376.59 to $1,686.33 per week, plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
