The role
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Town Planner to join our Development Systems team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to apply their planning knowledge in a practical setting and build foundational skills in statutory planning, development assessment, and community engagement. You’ll work closely with experienced planners to support the delivery of high-quality outcomes across a diverse and growing community.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Provide planning and development information through Council’s Duty Planner service.
Prepare assessment reports and determinations on development applications and subdivision certificates.
Undertake site inspections and prepare supporting documentation.
Coordinate internal and external stakeholder feedback on development matters.
Respond to enquiries at the customer service counter, via email, and by phone.
Meet statutory and Council timeframes and contribute to the delivery of efficient development services.

You will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning (or nearing completion).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of relevant Acts, statutory planning processes, and customer service delivery.
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
Class C Driver’s Licence.
Desirable:
Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and prior experience in local government or development assessment is an advantage.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $71,819 (Grade D, Step 1) plus 12% super.
