The role
Are you passionate about swimming and looking to kickstart your career in aquatics? We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as Trainee Swim School Instructors (Casual).
In this role, you’ll participate in training and hands-on instruction to gain the necessary qualifications to teach swimming lessons in a fun, safe and supportive environment. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for young people who want to make a real difference in their community while developing professional skills.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Participate in required training and on-the-job instruction to become a qualified swim instructor
Assist in delivering swim lessons in line with Council and industry standards
Set up and pack up equipment safely and efficiently
Support the development of program participants by learning their names and progress
Attend in-service training sessions and team meetings
Commit to assigned shifts as operationally required
Follow all Council safety and operational procedures

You will have:
Ability to attend a two-day training course set on November 1 and 2 at Max Parker Leisure and Aquatic Centre
Commitment to complete training within 8 weeks
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Experience working or learning in a team environment
Entry-level understanding of customer service and safety practices
Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Commitment to completing swim instructor training
No prior qualifications required – training provided upon appointment
Desirable: CPR and First Aid Certificates, and any experience working in aquatic or teaching environments.
