The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Manager Development and Regulatory Services to lead the Development and Regulatory Services section in the provision of high-level services to the community for Building, Planning, Environmental Health and Regulatory Services. With an emphasis on creating and sustaining a culture of continual improvement, innovation and efficiency.
What we are looking for in you
- Manage and lead the operations of the Development and Regulatory Services section, including development and building approvals, building maintenance, and ranger services.
- Oversee and drive the preparation, review and updating of strategic and statutory plans and policies, such as Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans and planning studies.
- Interpret and monitor changes in planning and regulatory legislation and provide accurate, practical advice to ensure compliance and support Council’s programs.
- Manage and streamline statutory approvals processes, including development and building approvals, to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Develop, review and implement Council’s regulatory policies, procedures and frameworks.
- Lead, mentor and support team members, fostering collaboration and effective service delivery.
- Prepare and present clear, timely reports, correspondence and advice to the Director and relevant stakeholders.
- Manage competing priorities by overseeing operational and customer service requests, ensuring they are addressed effectively and aligned with work programs.
- Champion and contribute to the delivery of Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan.
- Ensure all activities are delivered with accountability, transparency and responsible use of public funds.
- Carry out other duties that are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.
- Follow all Council WHS policies and procedures, work safely, report hazards and incidents and use PPE as required.
- Uphold Council’s values by acting professionally, comply with all policies and procedures, supporting a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace and performing duties within your skills and responsibilities.
- Carry out other duties that are within the limits of employee’s skills, competence and training.
