Located on Wonnarua Country at the gateway to the Hunter Valley, Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) is a dynamic art gallery serving the community and visitors to Maitland NSW. MRAG has a dedicated audience with over 120,000 visitors annually making our Gallery one of the most visited cultural destinations in the Hunter-region. Our Gallery presents award-winning exhibitions alongside engaging and varied public programs, educational offerings and an in-depth Arts Health program.
Our diverse and vibrant Collection includes over 8000 works by Australian and international artists and continues to grow through selected acquisitions and generous donations.
About the Role
The Visitor Engagement Lead at Maitland Regional Art Gallery is responsible for leading the MRAG Visitor Engagement Team in the delivery of daily front-of-house Gallery operations. Leading a team of Gallery Officers, you will coordinate front of house Gallery rostering, venue hire, exhibition administration, Gallery shop sales, and event logistics.
With a focus on ensuring an exceptional, welcoming and informative experience for all Gallery visitors the Visitor Engagement Lead is also responsible for overseeing and directing the delivery of customer experience engagement programs, gallery tours, and educational programs. Taking a lead in enhancing and driving customer engagement with MRAG, the Visitor Engagement Lead will promote exhibitions, events and artists and will monitor and report on visitor engagement metrics, program participation and venue hire.
The Visitor Engagement Lead will also draw on their industry experience to help support curatorial services including exhibition management (preparation, de/installation), collection management, and will contribute to creative learning and promotional activity opportunities within the Gallery.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be tertiary qualified in an arts-related field or related discipline or have an equivalent combination of contemporary experience and/or education/training.
You will have proven experience leading a team in their day-to-day activities and a passion for leading and coaching staff.
Your contemporary industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in the provision of client services to a diverse audience such as meet & greet, information provision, sales and program promotion is essential, as is knowledge or familiarity with Australian Art, and a demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for the visual arts.
Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with the requirement to work one weekend every three weeks. This position attracts a salary of $98,093 - $108,883 + 12% p.a. superannuation + penalty rates for any hours worked on Saturday (25% loading) and Sunday (50% loading).
