ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
As Singleton Council's primary specialist, the Traffic Engineer undertakes traffic and transportation planning, design, consultation and construction services to Council, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to traffic and transportation within the Singleton Local Government Area.
Key responsibilities include;
- Facilitation of Council's Local Traffic Committee including the preparation of agendas, investigation of agenda items and suggest recommendations, liaison with members, attendance at meetings, preparation of minutes, preparation of Council reports and ensuring that all legislation and best practice is fully adhered to.
- The project management (planning, design, consultation and construction, project and financial reporting) of traffic and transportation projects.
- Preparation and submission of funding applications for traffic and transportation projects and the identification of any new opportunities for funding.
- Asses all permit applications made to Council for heavy vehicle travel within the LGA under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) with regards to potential risk to public safety, damage to road infrastructure and adverse effects on community amenity and provide recommendations to the Roads Manager within the time frames outlined in the HVNL
- Review and provide comment and/or conditions on Development Applications in relation to traffic and transportation, and Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes submitted to Council by external parties.
Essential to this role is a degree in Engineering, acceptable for full membership of Engineers Australia, and/or extensive technical knowledge within a relevant discipline, complemented by demonstrated experience in traffic and transport design, planning and investigation services, proficiency in the use of CAD software programs and detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of public consultation, associated with traffic and transport planning, design and investigation. A class C drivers' licence is also required in this role.
This position is offered on a term contract, full-time basis working 35 hours per week, until 30 June 2028.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 14 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a TRP of $151,000 - $167,315 per annum consisting of a base salary of $112,708 - $126,782, 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance, Motor Vehicle allowance of $18,168.97and 12% superannuation.
