- Salary from $99,565.64 - $107,672.03 pa + 12% superannuation
- Temporary Full-time position for up to 12 months to cover parental leave (part time hours can be considered)

About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environment & Sustainability Officer to join the Environment and Sustainability Team at Woollahra Municipal Council on a temporary full-time basis.
As the Environment & Sustainability Officer, you will join a small and high performing team. A key element of your role will be implementing strategies and projects to protect and enhance the natural environment of Woollahra
This position has a strong environmental science focus, covering issues such as catchment and coastal management, water quality and conservation, biodiversity, and climate change mitigation. The position is responsible for environmental impact assessment and delivering environmental education activities for the local community.
About you
As an experienced and enthusiastic Environment and Sustainability Officer, your strong knowledge of environmental issues, experience in environmental impact assessment and your passion for delivering excellent environmental outcomes will see you succeed in this role. You will be a high achiever with;
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental management (or similar related degree qualification).
- Strong knowledge of environmental issues as they relate to local government, including coastal management, water quality, biodiversity and climate change.
- Experience developing strategies, policies or projects to address a range of environmental issues.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking environmental impact assessment, such as assessment of development applications and preparation of REFs.
- Thorough knowledge of environmental legislation as it applies to Local Government.
- Project management skills including: preparing project briefs; obtaining quotes; managing contractors; budget development and management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, preparation of submissions and expert advice, and the ability to present to a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to attend events outside of normal business hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Class C drivers licence.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in local government.
- Experience delivering environmental education programs.
