What you'll do
As our Safety Partner you'll report to the Coordinator Safety and Wellbeing and support the delivery of a safe and healthy workplace by partnering with leaders, teams, and workers to apply Council’s Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) and promote shared responsibility for safety.
You'll provide specialist and practical advice, guidance and support to ensure compliance with WHS, legislation, effective risk management, and continual improvement in safety and wellbeing practices. Working collaboratively within the People and Capability branch, the Safety Partner helps embed safe systems of work and fosters a positive safety culture across Council, aligned with our shared safety vision:

What you'll need
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or an equivalent tertiary qualification, and/or demonstrated equivalent competency gained through extensive experience and professional development.
- Comprehensive understanding of the WHS Act 2011 (NSW), WHS Regulation 2025 (NSW), and relevant Codes of Practice, with the ability to interpret and apply these to diverse operational environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading WHS Management System (WHSMS) implementation, review, and assurance activities aligned to ISO 45001:2018 principles.
- Proven ability to conduct WHS risk assessments, incident investigations, and verification or audit activities that inform continuous improvement of systems and controls.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to partner, coach and influence leaders, employees, and contractors to improve WHS performance and culture.
- Demonstrated experience and competence in using WHS information systems and Microsoft Office applications to manage data, records, and assurance reporting.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise professional judgment under broad direction, and develop practical solutions to complex WHS issues.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse WHS data, identify trends, and prepare clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations to support decision-making and governance.
- Current Drivers Licence (Class C)
