Location: Boorloo (Highgate, Perth WA)
Employment Type: Full Time or Part Time (minimum 0.8 FTE)
Employment Category: Maximum Term until 31 December 2026, with the possibility of extension or permanency
Remuneration: $87,474.98 - $91,334.17 per annum pro rata + superannuation + salary sacrifice
The Accountant is primarily responsible for providing financial management and accounting services to the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA).
This position will oversee and support the delivery of the following functions; budgeting and cost control; accounts payable/receivable; payroll; financial and management reporting; compliance with all statutory, legislative and reporting requirements; and the development of methodologies and frameworks under the guidance and direction of the Finance Manager to ensure the Finance team is effective and efficient.

About You
We're looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) or near completion.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working within the area of Finance in a similar capacity.
- Excellent analytical skills to evaluate budget variances, interpret funding agreements and ensure financial compliance.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, legislative and other reporting requirements for not-for-profit corporations.
- Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Ideally, in addition to the above, we are looking for someone who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community.
Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment. Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of this entitlement, such as an Australian passport or birth certificate.
