Your Position:
The Burwood Library is seeking a highly
organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to join our team as
a Library Collections Officer. Ideal
candidates will be community-minded, approachable, and passionate about public
libraries as inclusive spaces for learning, connection, and creativity.This role is a mix of technical
collection management and high-level customer service.
The main responsibilities of this role
will include
- Collection Processing: Manage the cataloguing, and physical processing
of library serials to ensure they are shelf-ready and discoverable in our
system
- Database Integrity: Perform quality control on the library's
cataloguing and item records to maintain accuracy and discoverability
- Collection Maintenance: Manage stock maintenance and organise items for
withdrawal, preserving the quality and integrity of the collection
- Customer Service: Being part
of the team that provides effective and efficient library and information
services to all Library users and our diverse community.
Working hours:
- 35 hours per week
- Monday to Friday 9 am to 5
pm except:
- Tuesdays 12 pm to 8 pm once a fortnight
- A rostered Saturday shift
working 11 am to 4 pm every 8 to 10 weeks.

Key Requirements:
- Current and valid Working With Children Check
- Diploma recognised by ALIA in Library
and Information services or a related discipline with recent working experience
in a similar role
- While not essential, applicants
with the ability to speak a second
language, particularly a community language commonly spoken in the Burwood area
(Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Nepali) is beneficial.
