Horticulture Maintenance Worker (Ref: 1258)
About the position:
The Horticulture Maintenance Worker undertakes operational activities associated with the provision of parks and gardens maintenance services to the City of Greater Geraldton, working under direction to ensure all work is carried out within agreed programs and budget constraints and in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards.
Key accountabilities:
- Maintenance of the City’s parks and gardens, including streetscapes, amenities, turf, active or passive recreation and other horticultural areas to a high standard.
- Undertake maintenance duties including planting, weeding, pruning, brush cutting, spraying and removal of waste from garden beds.
- General operation of plant and hand tools, carry out maintenance and/or labour duties as required.
- Operate plant and specialised horticulture equipment in a competent and safe manner including loaders, mini excavators, bobcats and other machinery as required.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will ideally have demonstrated experience in horticulture maintenance techniques and methods associated with turf, landscaping, amenities and irrigation.
Applicants who have strong knowledge, skills and experience but do not have formal qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $76,072 per annum or $38.4981 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
