Position
WALCHA Council is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic individual to join our team as a Senior Renewable Energy Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic advice to the General Manager and Council on renewable energy and transmission projects. This is a fixed term, full-time position for2 years and 6 months. You will develop relationships with EnergyCo and wind farm developers to ensure that Council's views are professionally presented prior to key decisions being made that may impact adversely on the community. Core activities will involve perusing and analysing policy proposals and discussion documents, keeping up to date with planning and timelines associated with renewable energy projects and attendance at liaison meetings held with Council or the winder community.
About you
You will work closely with Walcha Council’s General Manager and Councillors to determine the future of Walcha LGA and ensure that the community can maximise is benefits from the New England Renewable Energy Zone, whilst considering environmental impacts and other points of view. You will have experience dealing with multiple stakeholders in the preparation of effective reports and delivering presentations on behalf of Council to diverse groups.
With a population of only 3100 but covering an area of 6400 square KMs, you will face challenges consistent with other smaller rural centers, but you will relish the chance to overcome them and continue to provide a quality of service to our community that is second to none. With the region undergoing a dramatic transition to be part of Australia’s renewable energy future, Council are keen to invest in a quality applicant who can help Council, and the community, navigate this change.
What we Offer
This is a term full-time position (35 hours per week) starting at $2080.55 gross per week, based on Band 3 Level 3, Grade 9 of the Local Government (State) Award 2023 plus superannuation. You will also enjoy one RDO every third week.
You will be working as a key member of the executive under the strategic guidance of an invested and enthusiastic Council.
