We are seeking an experienced and professional Graduate Statutory Planning Officer with a passion for learning.
In this role you will have the following accountabilities:
- Assess development applications and ensure compliance with planning policies and Council's strategic framework.
- Liaise effectively with stakeholders including the public, developers, and government agencies.
- Provide professional planning advice and support the preparation of growth strategies and policies.
- Deliver high-quality customer service in line with the Shire's Customer Service Charter.
- Promote and maintain workplace health and safety in accordance with legislation and Shire policies.
- Uphold the Shire's values, Code of Conduct, and legislative obligations in all work activities.
Our preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and skillset:
- Working towards a qualification in Town Planning, or similar.
- Demonstrated understanding of how to assess development applications.
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of sustainable development.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear advice and assistance on matters of a technical and specialised nature to the public and other officers in the department and organisation.
- Ability to set priorities and produce work that is timely, accurate and of a high professional standard.
- Sound interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written and communication skills.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- A level of computer literacy appropriate to the position.
- 'C' class driver's licence.
