The opportunity
Council is pleased to announce the current vacancy of our Duty Supervisor Pools. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to continue their career growth in a people and customer service focused role.
As the Duty Supervisor Pools, you will help support the management team with day-to-day pool operations to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for patrons. Join our fun and friendly team and help contribute to our community.
In this role you will:
- Act as a contact for day-to-day operations of public pools.
- Assist with on-the-job supervision, direction, guidance, instruction, and training of pool staff.
- Organise daily tasks and activities.
- Implement approved operational procedures, guidelines, and supervision plans.
- Make suggestions for improvements and actively and positively contribute to team goals.
- Undertake facility inspections, identify, and report faults.
- Respond to and resolve incidents and accidents.
- Monitor activities of patrons and enforce pool rules.
- Carry out water testing, monitoring, and reporting of water quality results.
- Undertake routine pool servicing including operating pool cleaners, backwashing, applying of chemicals, cleaning pool strainers etc.
- Assist with the administration of the learn to swim program and membership databases.
- Assist with organising promotions, activities, and events.
- Undertake lifeguarding, customer service and administrative duties as required.
- Assist with operating the kiosk / canteen and provide a basic food service.
- Liaise with the leadership team to ensure pool operations, safety, maintenance, and customer service requirements are met.
- Provide input into the development of team goals, objectives, budget, procedures, inductions, and daily routines.
- Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Undertake, attend and successfully complete all training requirements that have been identified by the organisation.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff.
- Successful completion of an Aquatic Duty Manager qualification (or similar) or the ability to acquire within six (6) months of commencement.
- Previous experience working as a lifeguard and successful completion of a Pool Lifeguard (SISSS00111) qualification.
- Awareness of relevant industry legislation, standards and guidelines related to safe pool operations.
- Experience with routine and minor pool plant room servicing and maintenance.
- Strong customer service and communication skills including the ability to manage complaints and resolve conflict.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1,305.30 per week with progression up to $1,440.70 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
