About the role
The Senior Financial Systems Accountant is responsible for the configuration, optimisation, and integration of the Council's financial systems, particularly the OneCouncil platform. This role ensures that financial systems are aligned with statutory obligations, operational needs, and strategic objectives, while also supporting the Digital Transformation Program.
You will collaborate closely with Finance, IT, and Asset Management teams, as well as external vendors, to maintain the integrity of financial data and enhance financial reporting capabilities. Your contributions will encompass system upgrades, user acceptance testing, and the automation of financial reporting processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a motivated professional with a strong background in financial systems and project management.
- Degree in Accounting, Business, Information Technology, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in configuring complex financial systems, preferably in a Local Government setting.
- Familiarity with financial and project methodologies such as PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile, or ITIL.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to lead financial process improvements.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to high-quality customer service, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships across teams. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.
