The role
Are you a tech-savvy graduate with a passion for streamlining systems and turning data into action? We’re looking for a Graduate Systems Officer – Waste to support the delivery and optimisation of technology solutions across our Waste and Cleansing team.
This temporary full-time role will run until 29 January 2027, offering an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with emerging technologies, back-end systems and reporting dashboards that directly improve waste service delivery across the city.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Assist with the rollout of new technologies for waste operations
• Develop system dashboards and maintain backend databases
• Integrate and test systems with contractors and vendors
• Source and automate reporting requirements for service improvement
• Analyse processes and propose digital optimisation strategies
• Support and maintain data systems and application tools

You will have
• A degree (completed or currently studying) in IT or a related field
• Strong research and problem-solving capabilities
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Understanding of operating systems and the OSI model
• Strong time management and organisational skills
Desirable qualifications include:
• Knowledge of waste management in local government
• Experience with GPS, telematics or vehicle camera systems
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform and Apple products
The salary for this opportunity starts at $71,819.84 (Grade D, Step 1) plus 12% super.
