Your Position:
The Parks and Gardens team helps
maintain this reputation by caring for more than 60 parks and key public areas.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Parks and Gardens this role supports the upkeep
of parks, gardens and streetscapes, including sports fields, playgrounds, trees
and amenities. This is a diverse position which requires a flexible approach as
you will be performing a range of tasks across multiple Council sites ensuring
the highest levels of service and our records are well maintained.
Your Key Responsibilities include and will not be limited
to:
- Carry out a range of parks and garden
maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, pruning, planting, weeding, and
sports field upkeep.
- Follow daily and weekly work schedules and
report any damaged or unsafe Council assets.
- Operate Council trucks and equipment, tow
machinery, complete pre‑start checks, and perform basic vehicle maintenance.
- Use various plant and machinery such as ride‑on
mowers, chippers, excavators, loaders, and pressure cleaners.
- Assist with traffic control when required,
including setting up safe work zones and completing traffic control training.
- Support additional maintenance tasks like
repairing paths and gardens, laying turf, cleaning facilities, removing
graffiti, maintaining irrigation, and participating in ongoing training.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Hold or be willing to obtain an MR licence,
White Card, Traffic Control Certificate and AQF3 Chemical Certificate.
- Operate ride‑on mowers and small garden
equipment, with experience in general parks, street cleaning and basic
road/footpath maintenance.
- Communicate effectively and use technology
confidently in daily tasks.
- Show enthusiasm, willingness to learn and
contribute positively to team culture.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect and
commitment to safety.
- Work independently or in a team, stay self‑motivated,
and be flexible with early or varied work hours involved.
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health
assessment
