About the role
The Venues Coordinator leads the operational management and strategic development of St Ives Showground and Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, ensuring exceptional visitor, community and event experiences aligned with Council’s Management Plan.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee daily operations across both venues
- Implement Plans of Management and Business/Marketing Plans
- Manage bookings, events and commercial activities in line with policy
- Develop and deliver a financially sustainable events calendar
- Lead marketing and promotional initiatives to attract hirers and partnerships
- Monitor visitation data and prepare operational and financial reports
- Manage customer enquiries and stakeholder issues
- Oversee invoicing, credit control and income tracking
- Coordinate maintenance planning and capital works requests
- Recruit, train and supervise permanent and casual staff
- Ensure compliance with WHS, heritage, Crown Lands and relevant legislation
- Identify and implement improvements in systems and venue technology
- Build strong relationships with community groups and commercial stakeholders
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Tourism, Recreation, Facility or Business Management or minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar senior role
- Proven leadership experience managing high-performing teams
- Strong venue operations experience including bookings, programming and stakeholder liaison
- Demonstrated financial management capability (budgets, invoicing, income tracking)
- Experience delivering innovative community or environmental programs and events
- Marketing and business development experience, including digital promotion
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and reporting skills
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
- Sound knowledge of WHS and relevant legislation
- Proficiency in MS Office and venue booking systems
