About the role
We are seeking a motivated General Labourer (Operations Technician) to join our Turf Team within Parks & Gardens.
This role is perfect for someone wanting to start their career in the horticulture or turf industry - no prior experience required. You’ll learn the foundations of turf care and sports field maintenance, with opportunities to progress toward formal qualifications and potentially become a qualified Horticulturist or Turf Sports Manager in the future.
Working from our
Botany, Bexley and Mascot depots, you will be part of a dedicated team delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across the area.
A typical day includes:
- Mowing and maintaining parks, verges and sports fields
- Carrying out general park and grounds maintenance
- Clearing litter and debris
- Operating and maintaining a range of tools, machinery, and turf equipment
- Learning safe and effective work practices on the job
You’ll receive hands-on training and guidance to build your skills and confidence. We’ll teach you everything you need to know about the plant, tools, and equipment used in modern turf management.
About you
- You will demonstrate a genuine passion and the resilience required for physical work outdoors.
- You will be able to work in a team or unsupervised; all the time taking pride and working safely in producing great outcomes for our community.
- You will be physically fit and have a “can-do” attitude.
Essential criteria:
- General schooling to Year 10 or 12 and/or relevant experience.
- A SafeWork NSW white card (general construction induction card).
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Successful completion of ChemUse Certification within first 3 months.

Salary Range: From $62,867.48 - $70,411.44 per year plus 12% superannuation and allowances.
